The founding a Sherborne Girls began in 1898 when a Sherborne Castle resident saw the town needed a parallel to the well-established King Edward VI boys’ school. Serving as an early example of a girls’ boarding school, it reflects evolving attitudes towards secondary education for girls. This was evident in its initial emphasis on science, mathematics, and the humanities for girls.
The Main School is a Grade II listed building and was built in three phases, likely to facilitate its funding. It features a large hall with high-quality decorations and a remarkable hammer beam roof, with great architectural detailing.
After a decade of evolution, Sherborne Girls School are currently focused on crafting an Estate Masterplan to elevate all school facilities to the highest possible standards. This involves upgrading school buildings and boarding houses.
Our survey was undertaken with a Leica RTC360 Laser Scanner, Trimble Total Station & GPS. The output included a precision 3D Revit model of all floors, roof, elevations, as well as 2D floor plans, elevations, sections, roof plan, and site plan.
