The Surveybase Team have enjoyed many trips to the incredible Brecon Beacons across the years. Perhaps none so special as this historic country estate. Resting peacefully in 220 acres of beautiful countryside the main hall is of Victorian heritage and packed with period architectural detail.
Our Clients at Kvist Architecture and Design needed a detailed survey of the building’s facades and roof along with the second floor and attic plans. The survey was carried our using terrestrial 3D Laser Scanners supported by our UAV Aerial Drone instruments.
Service(s): UAV Survey
UAV technology is proving beneficial in the precise measurement of roof top geometry. The resulting high definition photogrammetry is used to develop a 3D point cloud using specialist image processing software. Accurate 2D AutoCAD plans are developed using the same methodology as with terrestrial Laser Scanning. Both clouds, UAV & Terrestrial, are referenced using a series of ground control points simultaneously captured during the site work. Another tangible benefit of UAV Surveying is the production of an overflight video. This useful option allows developers to inspect building condition for conservation and renovation purposes.
To our delight the Client provided a glowing service review and we are pleased to have worked with them on several follow up survey appointments.
