Roch Castle rests high above the landscape on its volcanic, rocky outcrop, providing 360-degree views of Pembrokeshire.
Built in the late twelfth century, Roch Castle’s five foot thick walls have witnessed over 800 years of history. Located at the Landsker line, it served as a crucial border fortifying Anglicised Wales from the independent Welsh to the North. The castle remained home to the de Rupe family for generations, solidifying its place in history.
Roch Castle underwent a restoration in 2009, injecting life into its historic structure. Its unique room at the pinnacle, the circular entry hall with exposed rock, the dining room, and the modest chapel all attest to its historical value. The introduction high-end luxury decor, and the splendid Sun Room with floor-to-ceiling glass walls ensures that the castle remains preserved, promising another century of greatness.
Roch Castle has achieved Visit Wales Gold Star status and was nominated for the Historic Hotels of Europe Historic Hotel Castle Award in 2020. These honours highlight the castle’s excellence in the hospitality industry.
The survey brief entailed creating a comprehensive 3D Revit (BIM) Model of Roch Castle. Working in close collaboration with the client, the survey deliverable focused on an internal renovation allowing for a tailored specification delivering our LOD4 façade and LOD3 internal modelling standard.
Our approach with 3D appointments is to begin with an online consultancy meeting. Providing time to familiarise ourselves with the wider design team, the meeting is an opportunity to explore the survey brief and approve the BIM specification. Ultimately, we seek to meet client service expectation so that the model fits seamlessly within their 3D design process.
