Pembroke Castle, built in 1093, is best known as the birthplace of Henry VII, founder of the Tudor Dynasty and Britain’s only Welsh king. This Grade I listed fortress is celebrated for its royal history and impressive medieval architecture.
The Great Gatehouse, built from locally quarried limestone, stands three storeys high with three ancient portcullises and a fortified gate passage. Today, it houses immersive exhibition rooms featuring sculpted figures, murals, lighting, and audio to bring Pembroke Castle’s history to life. Overlooking the large courtyard, it also offers views of the world’s largest map of Wales and the UK’s largest painting.
Surveybase were appointed to deliver a 3D Revit BIM Survey of the Gatehouse, providing the client with a LOD3 and LOD4 3D Revit (BIM) Façade & Roof Model.
Surveying The Gatehouse building posed unique challenges, particularly due the presence of visitors. To overcome these obstacles, Surveybase used advanced surveying technology to ensure precise data collection with minimal disruption to visitors.
