The Huntington Water Treatment Works on the outskirts of Chester will shortly benefit from a £35m improvements programme being invested by United Utilities. The main objective is to reduce the societal risk arising from the bulk storage of liquid chlorine, liquid sulphur dioxide and fuel oil.
Survey Base, appointed by the RPS group provided a 3D model of the pump house and surrounding environment. The detailed specification includes pipes, valves, flanges, gantry systems, concrete structures, electrical systems even nuts and bolts.
It’s an excellent example of our Point Cloud to MEP model service. Our association with RPS has developed shared knowledge of both the site survey and modelling procedures. RPS provide a precision Point Cloud file that meets our specific modelling requirements and we do the rest.
The point cloud is imported to Revit using OS coordinates. Revit has enhanced modelling capabilities compared to AutoCAD and can export to several file formats. We have an extensive library of MEP Revit families and components that speeds the process.
I am pleased to state that RPS were delighted with the result. My thanks to Jordan, Jon, and the Survey Base Revit team whose dedication and expertise make a real difference.
