It’s with gratitude that we thank our Client, a nationally recognised Architectural practice with an esteemed reputation in the education sector, for awarding another super 3D Laser Scan to Revit Model commission.
Wilson House, established in 1873 is named after Sir Erasmus Wilson, who founded the Chair of Dermatology at the Royal College of Surgeons, although he is better known for paying for the removal of Cleopatra’s Needle from Alexandria and its epic transportation to the Embankment in London.
The building portrays the classic Victorian architecture of its heritage with many neo gothic features. It extends over 4 floors to include a cinema, lounges, state of the art kitchen, private studies, brew rooms and computer facilities. It must be a luxurious environment for the many students who board here.
The 3D Laser Scan Survey of a busy academic environment can be challenging and best undertaken during holiday leave as was the case with Wilson House. Under the guidance of Jordan King, Project Manager an efficient traverse was developed in coordination with the House Master. The moment we arrived on site all officials understood where our surveyors would be at any given time.
Wilson House was modelled in Autodesk Revit to our Level 3 (Full Architectural Details) externally and Level 2 (Key Structural Details) internally. The Revit specification has been developed for Listed Buildings where the precision modelling of period elevation features is critical to the design and planning process.
