Survey Base were appointed by property consultants Alder King to provide measured building surveys of 18 academic and accommodation buildings that form part of the Aberystwyth University Campus. Surveying operational education buildings needs careful planning and we benefitted from the support of the Universities Estates and Property Department. The project objective called for accurate floor plans to empower a new space planning and facilities management initiative. During the tender we promoted Revit based Building Information Modelling that has obvious advantages in the record and reporting of facilities and assets including the ability to export to a COBie spread sheet. The end solution was developed in AutoCAD and included automated “excel” reporting driven by Tag attributed blocks.
